Look at the accompanying photos. Hutchings and Alderton:

This man abandons our district on the last day of school and authors a book on taxpayer dime. Who is promoting his career and "expertise"? Our ACPS board chair! Unbelievable!

Alderton's role as chair of the school board, Shen her own children have never gone to ACPS has always struck me as off. At one time she had three family members working for ACPS which would be a financial interest. The teachers union endorsed her as did tgr Fenicrstic party when she works for a nonprofit that advocates for charter schools. Regardless of my opinions on charters, there is the argument that charters threaten public education funding. Alderton has been vocal about the Youngkin admin even penning an OpEd in the Washington Post, yet she herself supports charter schools and Catholic education. Why do people go after other school board member but not her? Why is no one running against this person who really doesn't care about public education? Whose only interest is her own financial interest. This is why they are silent. https://www.crowdcast.io/c/elevateconference2022

Thanks for highlighting. Alderton is a big big problem.

When the DC Special Education Cooperative was formed in 1998, it filled a unique need in DC by working with teachers, school leaders, and across charter schools to improve educational services for students with disabilities. Not only has the Co-op network of schools expanded but the programs and services it provides to members and non-members has grown and incited a movement to:

Find new and innovative ways to meet students where they are;
Design programs based on unique student needs; and,
Prepare students for life beyond high school graduation.
The Co-op is shaping education legislation, administration, and implementation and in turn improving the way in which thousands of students with disabilities are taught each day.
