I actually really enjoyed the cenote visit and swim, and they set up a nice lunch in the historic town of Valladolid. I would say those are worth being on the agenda.

I read this as Chichen Itza Pizza.

We went on a bus tour, just make sure the bus has a bathroom. We went years ago so you could actually climb up and go inside the structure.

Check viator.com. You'll find private options there that pick up from your hotel

Separately, all of the Xcaret parks (xplor, etc) usually offer a pick up from the hotels.

You can also just have your hotel call a taxi for you to take you directly there. We've done this lots of times in Mexico, never had any issue being ripped off or taken to a different place.

Same, but we checked out of our Cancun resort and then stayed at Hotel Chichen for a night right next door. Highly recommend! Rooms are basic but food is great and the property is beautiful and you literally just walk over to Chichen Itza. They arranged a great tour guide for us too.

I would book the cenote tour via JW Marriott. It was really good on ATVs and didn’t feel touristy at all.

We also used USA transfers and had a good experience (lunch was not great but fine but we liked the cenote, altho certainly makes more sense to do it on the way back)

I thought swimming in the cenote was really really cool! Such a unique experience to be in that geological feature that we don't have in the US.

There are SO many tour companies. We used USA Transfers for our ride from the airport to our condo, and they also did our Chichen Itza tour using a shuttle bus. We were a family of 4 and there were probably about 10 people total on the shuttle.

Agree. Cenote and lunch were a waste of time.

You may want to book a private tour in a van if you have a larger group.

My husband and my two adult kids are finally going on vacation to Cancun over the x-mas break. We want to chill for the most part as it’s been a hectic year.

Although we want to chill for the most part, we do want to go to Chichen Itza on one of the days. We will be staying at a resort north of Cancun and north of the hotel zone.

Can you recommend either a great tour that picks and drops of at the hotel or a private tour for 4 that customizes the experience? We definitely want a guided tour in Chichen Itza but don’t care whether we stop by a cenote or not.

I would love suggestions from DCUM on best/easiest way to see Chichen Itza.
