I have toast with PB, so probably 25 cents? But we order a lot of takeout for dinner at about $100 a night for the 5 of us. It really doesn’t matter how much you spend if you can afford it.

Bacon and egg sandwich from the local bagel place plus a drink. Costs $13/day x 200. It adds up.

I tend to eat breakfast at home but often buy coffee

$2-3 coffee

Supplies for breakfast sandwich:
$5/dozen eggs = .41 or .82 (1 or 2 eggs)
Hunk of Cabot cheddar = .10-.15
TJ hash brown = .20-.30
Ketchup/cholula = .05
Bit of ham or some veg = .10
English muffin = .50
= $1.50-1.95 per sandwich

Total = $3.50-4.00

Not terrible I guess. I should start making my own coffee though.

This is a version of the person who pays for a Starbucks latte every day. They add up. The question is can you afford it? Are you meeting your financial goals? If yes to both of those, then I wouldn't worry too much about $1500 over an entire year. That isn't going to make or break you. It is if you are sort of 6 dollar-ing yourself several times a day.

Whatever a granola bar and coffee costs. I have to be at work by 7:30 and nothing will make me wake up earlier than 5:45 so breakfast on the way to work is what I do.

Anything adds up to a lot of money over the course of a year. If you enjoy it- why not? Are you also buying lunch and coffee?

To answer the question I can’t remember the last time I ate breakfast. I just can’t eat in the morning and it makes me feel ill. Intermittent fasting before it was a thing I guess

This morning I had instant oatmeal with a banana, at home. Less than a dollar. Yesterday I had scrambled eggs and sourdough toast and cantaloupe. Maybe $1?

I used to eat breakfast at 9 or 10am, for $5-6 2-3 times a week. I looked forward to it too, I totally understand, it made my day. It was worth it.

I would skip lunch though or just have a piece of fruit, not financial but because if I eat 3 full meals a day, I gain a lot of weight.

Do you eat lunch out too? If not then enjoy your breakfast. Lunch would be double that.

Breakfast is the last thing I would spend $ on and we have a very HHI. So, yeah $1500 sounds like a lot. But, can you afford it? Does it make you happy? If so: YOLO

I would never buy breakfast daily for that price, just not worth it to me since I typically think of weekday breakfast as simply fuel to get me through the morning. The only time I bought breakfast frequently was when I worked near a food truck that did two eggs and toast for $3. I was much younger and didn’t keep much food in my house and that was often my most nutritious meal of the day haha.

However there have been periods where I spent $6-$10 on lunch every day which I looked forward to every day so I don’t find it an unreasonable amount to spend per day necessarily. If you like it and it makes your day better I say it’s worth it.

We never eat breakfast out at our house. My wife skips breakfast most days, I eat oatmeal at home. The kids eat some mix of eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal, toast and other normal breakfast stuff.

If you eat at home, breakfast is probably the cheapest meal. I usually eat oatmeal or eggs. Oatmeal is about $3 for a big tub of oats, so mere cents for a nice bowl, plus some fruit on top. Eggs are about $4 a dozen, so again, me scrambling two and putting them on toast is about a $2 breakfast.

If you want to cut back, you could try treating yourself twice a week and eating at home the other days. But if it's not a big problem, then keep enjoying your breakfast!

Don't know which forum this belongs, Food or Money and Finances, so posting here. I start my day early so as a 'treat' to myself I always pick up breakfast at this place across street from my office. I think I average ~ $6 every day (used to be $4.5-$5 but now with inflations it's gone up quite a bit), and on it's own it's not much but I also just realized by looking at my credit card summary I spent over $1,500 at this place this last year, and the majority of that was for breakfast. So now all of a sudden it sounded like a lot of money spent on breakfast... or is it?
