Are you sure she wants to continue the gift exchange?

+ 1 This was the perfect opportunity to stop the crazy.

What does she send you? Just send her the exact same thing.

Who knew that giving gifts to people was about “winning”?

I guess flowers are your best bet. If someone tells you they didn't like what you sent and can't give you any ideas about what might be more appropriate, that's also pretty salty so consider that her reaction to not getting a gift may not be worse than when she does get a gift. What does she send you?

Ask her if you can donate to a charity in her name. If she declines, drop it with gifts. She’s being pretty clear.

Flowers? Candy? Chocolate croissants from Williams Sonoma?

This. I wouldn't waste the time and money. If you absolutely can't end it, how about flowers?

A family membership to a museum? Tickets to a baseball game? Alcohol? Fancy fruit? Gloves or scarves for whole family? Get them each a book with a return receipt? Sounds like she’s low carb. And also a pain. I wouldn’t stress if she doesn’t Ike it.

Does she send you anything?

Here's an interesting analysis...

If the best gift is cash, and you both give each other cash, that shows the uselessness of the exchange.

She sounds difficult. I don't think you'll every win with her, so don't stress yourself out trying. Just send a gold belly GC and be done with it.

Honestly in this situation I’d stop asking and send something you know someone on the family will like and assume your sister will complain? Experience, food, wine are all non-stuff.

Last year it was a breakfast basket from Russ and Daughters. She said no one eats bagels in her family, so not again this year. Asked her about other food options and she said no thanks. Was also told they don’t need “stuff”. My niece and nephew are young adults and I always send a family gift. Any ideas? She will be salty if I send nothing.
