Sounds like you’re going on a second date wether you want to or not…

It’s creepy

No second date and tell your friend.

I don’t think you should bother with a second

I would find this extremely strange and off-putting. The last person I dated who was even vaguely like this became my stalker when I broke it off.

Don't do the second date. No sparks, no chemistry, plus he's socially awkward at best. Move on.

I think in the moment it would have been fine to say, maybe with a laugh, "Dude, you can't say that to a woman you just met!"

You know the snake story right?

People often tell you what they are way before you take them seriously. He is saying something along the lines of: "I would like to consume your life, and take your choices away from you, so that you are all mine, whether you like it or not."

If you are VERY attracted to him, consider if you have unresolved childhood issues of having your freedom/choice taken in a serious way. Should be easy to walk away from this. I say it's a major red flag.

Any point in bringing it up with your mutual friend? Seems like something they might want to know before they set up him with anyone else!

Listen to your gut.

DH and I used to say that we wanted to put each other in our pockets. I forget who said it first and it kind of had that same vibe but it feels cuter warmer and cozier that being kidnapped. I think it's probably just socially awkward, but it's ok for socially awkward to be a red flag if you don't want to be with a partner who may interact differently with the world.

This guy must be awfully cute if you agreed to a second date…

I mean I don’t think he’s actually going to kidnap you but it’s a red flag for poor social skills/situational awareness.

I recently went out with a guy I met through a mutual friend. The date went well, but I can't say there were any sparks. At the end of our date, twice he said he wanted to kidnap me. Even though I found it a bit cringe, I laughed it off and chalked it up to a poor choice of words and a way to express that he liked me a lot, which he has said numerous times. During an earlier call this afternoon (Odd, but for whatever reason, the phone calls feel flat), while we were planning another date, he repeated it. It annoyed me, and I'm having second thoughts about going out with him. Red flag or poor word choice?
