I’ll turn my lights on when I think I need lights. You don’t manage me.

Yes!! Why isn’t this a standard feature? I can’t think of a situation when your wipers are on for more than a minute that you wouldn’t want your headlights on.

No.

Leaving your lights on the automatic setting accomplishes this.

Ooooh here's a good one! I was on Route 1 at 7pm and there was a guy driving with no lights on. I was stopped and he was driving slowly as he approached a light. I waved at him and he turned his lights on.

And then my 11 year old and I are 90% sure he gave me the finger!

Good thing I did because a matte black SUV with no lights on was right behind me; this was early this morning on a rainy, dark day. What a moron. EVEYRONE else had their lights on.

And just to clarify: no lights whatsoever, not even DRLs.

The .000009 percent of the DC population who reads this will take it to heart. Thank you.

Do DRLs count as headlights? If your DRLs are just your headlights at a lower intensity, it meets the code requirement of "headlights must used."

I leave my lights on Auto now. Don't tell me to turn on my lights, tell my car to turn them on.

I think daytime running lights have made the problem worse, paradoxically.

People assume their lights are on (they look on in the front), but coming up behind someone in the pouring rain, sometimes I don’t even realize they’re there until I’m almost on top of them.

I don't understand how people still don't do this - if your wipers are on, your exterior car lights need to be on. It's darker when it rains, and people can see you better (and you can see others better)

Looking ahead at the forecast, we're about to have many days of rain the next couple weeks. Turn your car lights on guys. Make good choices, folks.
