Do you two typically attend the birthday party? If not, I would offer some time for the other parent to see the child outside of party hours if it will minimize conflict.

I'm the poster above you who said my ex is invited to our kids birthday parties. No, he doesn't come on vacations with us. Vacations are for relaxing/bonding as a family. That would be weird to invite him. Birthday parties to celebrate our children reaching another year is about them. Of course he's invited.

Would your kid like both parents at the birthday party? If so, then the other parent attends and both behave like adults.
