Forest Knolls has been a terrific experience for my 2 students. They have made huge progress in their academics and even in their social skills, and the neighborhood is filled with wonderful, genuine people who really support one another.

Forest Knolls parent with one kid at SSIMS now. It helps a lot to have kids you know in middle school, and if your fourth grader is your oldest, you might as well start engaging with your local neighborhood families through school.
I echo what the other posters have said about Forest knolls being an excellent, welcoming school.

We are moving homes and looking at the neighborhood that feeds into Forest Knolls. My oldest will be going into 4th grade next year and so the question I have is whether to move them to our homeschool (potentially Forest Knolls) or apply for a COSA to keep them at their current DCC ES (very good school, we're happy with it, but it's zoned for Sligo not SSIMS).
How friendly is Forest Knolls for a kid coming into upper elementary? How's bullying? Administration? Teacher quality?
And would love to hear perspectives from parents - would it be worth moving my DCs so they can make friends at Forest Knolls before going to SSIMS? Or perhaps keep them in their current ES for continuity and then invest in making friends in the neighborhood who will go to SSIMS.
