We are in VA with a kid that has same diagnoses as yours -- got ASD diagnosis last when kid was about 12. Have most of the same accommodations. Their hardest classes have an extra teacher/aide in the room, though not just for my kid but for the extra special needs kids in the room generally. Also have Instructional Studies almost every day to teach executive functioning and keep kids on top of their assignments. We also have preferential seating toward the front of the classroom as my kid will distract self in classes they don't like or find difficult by surfing on the down low.

Can't give any advice re the 5 years of high school. That could be a little hard emotionally if they are attached to their classmates, though obviously you need to play the hand you're dealt. Good luck to you!

My 15 year old was recently diagnosed with ASD/ADHD/anxiety (previously had an ADHD/anxiety diagnosis only). I am curious what accommodations people have for ASD. We already have many accommodations in place, such as extended time, quiet place to work, reduced workload, flash pass to leave classroom if too noisy. I'm wondering if there are additional accommodations that we may not have considered before.

Additionally I was wondering if flexibilities exist for taking 5 years in high school rather than 4 years. We are in MCPS if that matters. Apologies if this is a dumb question; I had never considered it before my child fell apart this past year...
