At 12, DD was predicted to be 4’11. She’s almost 17 and just under 5’1.

Those are very normal average female heights. Predictions aren’t law so you kids didn’t ‘lose’ height

We are a bit on the other end with an extremely tall DD at age 3. Did bone age (along with hormone check) then and again at 10. Endo was great and said by 10 pretty accurate. She is now 15 and 6'2". He had said we just need to prepare ourselves for a 6' girl and he was right.

My dd saw an endocrinologist for short stature at age 3 and again at 9. Her bone age is a bit delayed and we have a family history of late puberty/constitutional growth delay so we are hoping that means she has more years of growth ahead of her. They did not even check for growth hormone deficiency because she has none of the other symptoms according to the dr.

I think pretty accurate. My son has always been small but I’m 5’9 and my husband is 5’10, so he shouldn’t be so small. We had a bone X-ray done at 10 and it showed a delay of 18 months to two years. Endocrinologist also said he’ll reach about his predicted height, it will just be two years later than most.

At age 10, did they recommend growth hormone or any other intervention?

My son is small, which may or may not make sense given his father is tall and his mother is quite small. His bone age is about 15 months younger than his actual age which also makes sense due to a now corrected health issue. But, I still wonder if we should monitor closely. But, only if it seems there is a growth hormone deficit. Not because I'm worried he may be of the 20% in the 20%tile.

Is he a late bloomer? How tall are are the parents?

My DS was a late bloomer. Hit full on puberty at 16.

When he finished MS, he was just around 5'.

He was 5'3" at 15
5'5.5" at 16
A little over 5'9" at 17

And still growing per the pediatrician. He also had bone xray at 10 due to pain in his foot. The doctor assumed it was growing pains, and he was right. He said DS' bone age is behind 12 to 18months.

DH and I are both late bloomers, and DH grew till about 20. So we expect DS to continue with his regular growth pattern going into 18, and a bit after, then slow down until about 20. Pediatrician thinks he might hit 6'.

DS was so happy. As you must be aware, he hated being so short. He was also the shortest.

accurate for our daughter, done around age 13. showed full height and hasn't grown since, now age 16.

Pediatrician can order them. It’s an X-ray of the wrist. They are read by a radiologist.

We had this done for DS when he was 16. I was concerned because he was no longer growing. Bone age test showed that he had already reached full height, and growing had stopped. I was really upset about it, but DH was convinced the test results were wrong- they weren't. He is now 19 and hasn't grown at all since that test.

Those bone age tests are pretty accurate. Did the doctor indicate when he would stop growing? I would assume soon since he's already a teenager.

My teen son’s bone age X-ray shows his bone age is 19 months older than his actual age. His adult height is predicted to be short (around 5’6”). Has anyone seen the bone age prediction of final adult height to be wrong for their child?
