I've gone through the list of documents required to get a new license and have all of them, except for one. The final item on the list is "Proof of Ability to Drive" and the required documentation options are:
--US driver license, not expired for more than 90 days
--Out-of-state certified driving record (issued within the last 30 days) showing a valid license, not expired for more than 90 days
--Unexpired out-of-country driver license
--Unexpired DC learner permit and successful completion of road skills test
But I don't have a license! I lost it! That's the problem--how can I provide a license as proof to get a new one????
Anyone have suggestions for dealing with this madness?
I hate the idea of going to the DMV, standing in line, and being sent away for not having the right documentation.
Thanks,
DC driver
When I lost my license, I just went online, filled out a form and paid like 20 bucks and they sent me a new one.

Oh wait!
It has to be out of state.
If it’s the same municipality, won’t DC have a record of your driving record?[/quote
Who is the one who doesn't seem so bright now? Jeez--the OP just wants some help!
