supposedly it's for all us white people who are supposedly afraid of non-white people...so we scurry to the burbs to get away from them because we're...so very frightened.
I thought it referred to historically areas that were created when white people left their suburban neighborhoods when black people moved in during the civil rights era and had racial covenants that prevented black people [and sometimes jewish] from moving in?
yall are still doing that in 2022? minus the racial covenants i assume?

No, white flight is a term that refers to when white people left cities for suburban areas, especially when neighborhoods reached a certain tipping point of POC.

Asians, particularly Indians, are part of the white flight now.

If you’re moving to Columbus Upper Arlington or parts of Worthington are close to Dublin but may remind you more of someplace like Bethesda.
ILs live in Upper Arlington DH grew up there. It's definitely a nice area for kids and a lot closer to more things to do. It's a lot more laid back then the DC area which is definitely not a bad thing.
I second a PP that mentioned the grey winters. It's really kind of depressing that it's grey (and cold) so much of the winter.

Dublin is to Columbus what Ashburn is to DC. Nice houses, good schools, but nothing out-standing about it. Muirfield golf tournament is huge every year.
If you’re moving to Columbus Upper Arlington or parts of Worthington are close to Dublin but may remind you more of someplace like Bethesda.

It is great! There is a part that is Dublin but with Hilliard schools (Ballantrae area). Allegedly Dublin schools are better. Jerome is thought of as the best. Muirfield is nice but it has an 80s/90s vibe to it. There are newer areas farther out that are very nice.

One of my dearest friends moved there because of DH's job. I think she cried for the first 10 years, not exaggerating. The biggest issue for her was the weather - very long, grey winters. I don't recall her saying anything else really negative about the area, but that one aspect was big for her especially as she does have mild depression.

I used to work for MCI Worldcom back in the day and traveled there on business. It was nice. There was a fun golf tournament held near there every year.
