Look at the median salary and housing costs of this area. It should not come as a surprise that there are a lot of "millionaires" here.

But it is part of their net worth. If you took away Jeff Bezos' Amazon stock, he would not be a centibillionaire.

Probably not. However, if you include home equity, which I assume you are some are probably close to it.

Not counting our paid off home or banked money yes, 1.2 million.
But we live in podunk America not a DC critter.
We're in our early 60s. retired.
Every pay raise was banked/invested. That's how we got there.
No one knows. Not even our adult kids.

My wife and I (45 and 50) have a net worth of about $780k (half home half retirement, 529) My pension will be worth about $1.2 million if paid out over an average lifespan after retirement.

I seem normal compared to most of the families I know except for the pension.

Not us, but we're only in our 50s and are nearly halfway there!

People who are doing well are more likely to be proud of that and then comment on questions about money/wealth. People who are in debt or haven't had time to save a lot are less likely to post about their situation.

Most on the board, I think so. I'd say the vast majority that post to Money & Finances or the Nanny threads.

Judging from the posts on here it seems that most of DCUM has a net worth of at least 1 million. What do you think?
