have you not run searches for language schools near you, or ASL teachers, etc? DCUM is not the only source of this kind of info.

It is not a matter of finding a language course - there are many. The challenge is finding one that MCPS will accept for credit!

A few years ago, I had a number of students who were from international families and completing the educational program for their home country while enrolled in MCPS. All were fluent in a home language not taught in MCPS. The families all tried to get MCPS to grant credit for Greek, Modern Hebrew, Portuguese, etc. with no success.

My child would like to study ASL for foreign language credit but unfortunately it is not offered at our home school. Has anyone found an outside ASL class that MCPS approved for foreign language course credit? I understand that the school principal has discretion to grant credit for a course taken outside or school or even independent study. I've found many online ASL classes - but it would be great to know if there is one that MCPS has already approved for credit. Thanks!
