My son was never sick. His doctor would say, "Hello stranger!" when I would bring him in for his annual checkup since he rarely ever got sick. He had one ear infection as a baby and a stomach virus as a toddler and that's about it.

I have a first grader who has been in group care/school since 8 mos. He maybe gets one pretty funky respiratory virus that lingers with a fever each year.

Knock on wood, only one stomach bug around 3. Never anything big like COVID, flu, strep, etc.

As a former teacher, he’s probably absent once a month or so as I am over-cautious about keeping home when under the weather (common cold, sniffles, cough).

My kids never got sick all the time. They did get sick occasionally. They were never in daycare so that's a factor.

My first grader hasn’t gotten sick yet this school year, after getting every little bug last year. He was in preschool from age 2, but part time at small schools.

His sister is in K and has already missed school for 3 separate illnesses.

Our kids were in full time daycare and I want to say they stopped getting sick all the time after two years in group setting. If your kid hasn’t been exposed before in daycare or preschool then I would give it two years to expect it to stop. My 6 year old (who was sick every month until 2-3) literally hasn’t been sick in 3 years. It’s challenging but remember this is all building your kids immune system.

Wow - you could teach middle school subjects down to a lesson plan? That’s amazing. For us, that stopped in sixth grade.

My first grader hasn't had any sickness so big she's had to stay home from school yet this year.

Same except it was part-time PK2 and that child is now in 1st. Was sick for 12 days earlier in the month. This is after being sick in Sept for an entire week as well. I have younger kids and they've all been sick, too. I don't know the answer but I thought we'd be done with this by now. I see PP above says 3rd grade. Perhaps that's a more reasonable expectation.

When they went into virtual school. Other parents are selfish and send their sick kids to school.

First winter in a group setting is constant, second winter is not good but better, by the third winter their immune system is better than mine

Both of my children went to daycare starting when they were infants. The frequent illnesses stopped at 2 for younger DD and nearly 3 for older DD.

Did your child go to preschool last year? I want to say third grade. But every school year my kids have had a major illness of some sort. Colds, strep, stomach bugs and most recently both had flu.

My kindergarteners get colds/strep/whatever literally every two weeks and it's hell. I know this is the age, but I'm just looking for some hope. In pre-Covid times, when did you notice that your kid stopped getting sick all the time?
