This is accurate - it's exactly what we're paying in Rockville.

We're paying between $25 and $31 on the eastern shore of Maryland. I try to get CNA's. We pay workers comp, and unemployment insurance and social security, i.e. we pay legal
not under the table.

I get one person through an agency. The agency charges $29.

I pay $27/hour for aides through an agency. There is a 4 hour a day minimum.

My experience is in FL as well. Going through an agency will provide background checks and liability insurance. If the person is independent, you risk their getting injured on the job and you being responsible. We pay between $28-32/hour, and weekend care is more.

We used someone that works exclusively at a CCRC

What is a CCRC?

One issue I ran into when looking for a home health aide for my dad is that they are considered "independent contractors". I had to figure out worker's compensation because I was concerned about the liability aspect. Even if the home health agency took care of the payroll, they were still considered independent contractors. This was in Florida. Not sure if it's state specific or the norm everywhere.

Does anyone know what a typical hourly rate would be for a home health care provider in NoVa (for, say, 20 hours/week to help with evening meals and bedtime)? Any if anyone has specific recommendations for a provider that would be much appreciated as well.
