Depending on where they are located, that’s against licensing rules. You might be lucky or your daycare, disregards licensing rules.

Never heard of this... ours sends soiled clothes home in a double ziplock bag. Went through this with two kids. Never had an instance where they expressly threw clothing out.

How wasteful. Point out that most daycares return parents' property to them, request that clothes be sent home in a bag, and provide them with bags if necessary.

And no, PP, poppy wet clothes can stay in a bag all day and be washed clean that night. It's not unsanitary, unless you're a wealthy clueless person who doesn't care about the environment.

Bizarre. Send some labeled gallon sized zip lock bags and gloves for it.

+1 not normal. Throwing away soiled baby clothing means that they are likely tossing several pieces of clothing every day. I feel like every article of baby clothing at that age had poop on it at one time.

Not normal for infants - those should go home in a plastic bag. Fine for a 3 year old with soiled underwear.

It is true that soiled underwear cannot be rinsed or washed but they can bag it and return home.

They cannot rinse or clean them, but they shouldn’t be throwing them away. Underwear full of 3 year old poop, ok, but a9 month old’s blowout clothes, no.

No, that's ridiculous. Start the convo by offering to send in plastic bags in case of further accidents. They should not be throwing away infant clothing. If it's a pair of a toddler's poop filled underwear and they wanted to dispose of the whole situation and not send home the undies I wouldn't care, but they should still send home the pants or whatever the outerwear is. So wasteful.

Not normal! Mine always put them in a tied off dog poop bag.

Normal for my daycare (my older toddler went through a poop withholding/skidmark in the underwear phase recently and they threw out a couple pairs of undies). They don't have a washing machine on site and a sink can only go so far. I actually prefer it. It seems unsanitary to keep poopy, wet clothing hanging around all day.

I try to save the environment, but not through my parenting habits. Whatever makes it easier. I biked to work but for 100% sure used plastic bottle bags and disposable diapers.

Also please don't stress out already stressed daycare staff/admins with this not-real problem. They are already incredibly strained by parent requests over minor issues. Let them devote more oxygen to real issues like staffing, affordability, revising pandemic policies that need updating...

I have a 9 month old in daycare. We were told today that they throw away soiled clothes if there is a bm. Is this normal? They have previously been sending them home in a plastic bag. Babies often have accidents and this strikes me as incredibly wasteful. Feedback appreciated so that I can have a discussion with the director. Thank you!
