You need to decide for yourself. It is emotional to go through IVF, if you don’t connect with him during initial consults, like a marriage, don’t expect it to get better when things get harder, but if like style and stats from beginning, easier to push through the hard stuff when trust and respect. Good luck wherever go.

May I ask how old you were when you went to see Dr. Sharara? I’m 39, and about to try my first cycle but I’m extremely nervous. He’s run me through all the tests and while I have a good AMH, my husband has really low morphology and we already lost a baby to chromosome abnormalities earlier this year. Would appreciate any words of encouragement!

I had the opposite experience as PP. I got a baby 4 months after I started seeing him without doing IVF when two other doctors tried to get me to do IVF right away. He did MUCH more testing than previous doctors and found seemingly small but important issues the others didn’t catch. Very wholistic which I appreciated - went over diet, supplements, activity. I’m very thin like PP and have a strong feeling she’s mischaracterizing his view of skinny people (lol). I found him when I started researching the CDC ART success rates and he’s got the best in the DC area by a long shot. He is good at what he does and expects a lot from his patients - if you want to just jump to fertility treatments without doing testing, making lifestyle changes, etc he’s probably not for you. Pretty much totally runs on word of mouth and I have referred many people to him also with success.

I wasted a year with him. He was very condescending towards me, basically skinny shamed me every appointment, saying i wasn’t getting pregnant because i was too skinny (this wasn’t true at all). i didn’t feel at ease with him at all. he insisted i was the problem, when it was my husband the entire time (low sperm count). i will say appointments with him were very punctual (i didn’t have to wait) and his billing team were good. His office runs smoothly, which was the only thing I liked. but i did not like him as my doctor during that emotional time, i felt terrible after every appointment.

I switched to Dr. Sacks office at CFA. Billing team is horrendous and the office is kinda run like a factory. Some nurses are great and some aren’t. But Dr. Sacks is the one who made us stick around. He’s very caring and I felt a sense a security with him. He never made me feel bad and he’s a nice guy overall. i also consulted with Dr. Abbasi and she felt very cold to me. It also depends on what you’re dealing with and what you’re looking for in a doctor.
