Does the Ford Escape come in a hybrid version ?

Fords are terrible for reliability.

There’s a traditional hybrid and PHEV. The first gen Ford Escape hybrids consistently made it 300k+ miles.

They’re only great for trunk space if the third row is folded down. Not much bigger than an Outback.

Consumer Reports December, 2022 issue rates the Ford Escape Hybrid SE Sport at a 60 out of 99.

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid SEL is rated much higher--top in the crowded category of Small SUVs--at 93 out of a possible 99.

Ford Escape Hybrid negatives noted by CR are poor reliability and overly sensitive brake pedal.

No. It will take months to get a new Highlander Hybrid.

Will probably get much easier once the new Grand Highlander is announced (should be pretty soon).

Isn't a Highlander really big? Like three rows?

This. Nothing else is even worth considering.

My 10 year Outback is not going to last longer than another year or two and given all the supply chain issues, I want to start considering other vehicles now. Mention that I have an Outback to give you an idea of the size I'm comfortable with (and it's the middle of the road one, so I'm not looking for luxury, but I do really like power adjustable seats!). My husband has a Hybrid RAV4 and I hate it. I understand that the Rev 4 has changed since he bought his, so I might consider it, but we really want to commit to a hybrid vehicle at this point. We don't live somewhere that will allow us to install an electric charging station, so it has to be a hybrid. Would love your recommendations for under $40K cars. Preferably well under that!
