Why did Republicans push this in the lame duck session instead of waiting until January when Republicans control the House?

Covid is here to stay. There will always be new variants. The current vaxx doesn't do much against the current variants. You want us to live in "national emergency" status forever?

This is patently false

Show your work.

While the boosters may help a bit, they aren't *that* great.

And the current variants won't result in the same number of deaths. The variants are increasing, but they are decreasing in intensity. The variants will continue to mutate. We cannot live in a state of emergency forever.

If every Republican and a quarter of the Democrats voted against it, it didn't pass and there will be nothing for Biden to veto.

Wow, no response. There are currently 51 democrats in the senate, 3/4 would be 38. Can OP explain how 38 senators passed a law?

The current bivalent booster is pretty effective against current strains. It doesn't perfectly prevent transmission; but it does help keep dumbasses out of the hospital and prevent rationing of care.

Because it allows them unprecedented control over the people. Biden stated that the pandemic is over months ago.

This is how "temporary" measures end up becoming permanent. Come February, there will be another reason to extend it. I'm guessing plenty of people are ok with this being permanent, but know they need to sucker the rest into getting them to go along.

Because it cuts red tape, gives people access to healthcare they don't otherwise have, and it helps small businesses.
