Have you been giving him yogurt or a probiotic?

I also recommend seeing if the shots are an option. My toddler had a similar reaction to a particular antibiotic and the doctor pushed us to finish the course. I regret not insisting on something else. It was miserable and didn't resolve the ear infection. We then did another oral antibiotic, which didn't have such bad side effects but also did not resolve the ear infection. The shots were so much better and worked.

My 2 year old has RSV and then developed an ear infection. Doctor prescribed 10 days of Cefdinir for the ear infection because the amoxicillin shortage. It helped at first, but we are now on day 6 and it has totally destroyed his gut. He’s having major, nasty, leaking green diarrhea BMs that leak through clothes. He now doesn’t want to eat (only nurse, and we were down to only a few times a day before he got sick), doesn’t want to take the medicine (I was mixing it in chocolate syrup and giving it with ice cream which was the only way to get him to take it), and is so nauseous that at least once a day he coughs, gags, and vomits. I tried to call the pediatrician today and the on call nurse told me to just finish the course. Anyone else been there? I know we are supposed to finish it but I don’t think I can get him to take it anymore.
