When my 84 year old father was in the hospital and rehab earlier this year, my mom would go for several hours and I encouraged her to cut back on that. In the end she regretted it some since he had less reserves available when he eventually was discharged and really did need 24-7 caregiving at home. It can be tricky when there is cognitive decline and you know that the patient really can’t advocate for him/self but if you trust the facility I say let them do their job. It also is helpful if the family designates a single person to be the liaison with the medical staff
We've never not been allowed to stay overnight. Granted, you're stuck in one of those big recycling chairs, but we feel it's important.
