A lot of people love work travel or at least tolerate it. I'm not one of those people so this would be a hard pass for me.

I did in my early 30s and it unlocked huge career growth for me. I wouldn’t want it now in my early 40s

I did this when I was a single professional. I couldn't figure out how to make it work when married and deciding to have kids. We had no extended family to help, so we'd basically have to have someone else raising our kids.

There was no way to not travel, so I ended up being a SAHM. It worked out okay; kids are now 20 and 18. However; I would have liked to have kept my career--just couldn't do it even part time.

So in this situation, the husbands who did my job did sort of make it work. No women could make it work. But honestly, not sure it was good for the men, either.

So, OP, see if the job can lead anywhere besides more and more travel.

I'd take it. Kids in HS, can drive themselves, pretty independent.
DH works remotely, could join me on some trips. Too bad I'm in the wrong line of business, almost none of the positions require travel.

PS DH traveled Monday - Thursday every week. Not just 40%

This. My Dh traveled for years. It worked for us. We were so excited when he came home and he made a lot of money so I could stay home and was happy to deal with the day to day. Plus, we then had tons of miles for travel, not to mention tons of hotel points.

It all depends on your overall life situation. And, do you like to travel. My DH was really good at it. Not everyone is.

I would have taken it when I was under 30. It was great. I did a lot of traveling back then for pleasure and I enjoyed it. I did travel once or twice a year for work and it was nice (although several of the places I traveled to, were not great).

By the time I was 30, I was getting more settled and had more local activities that I was enjoying. I still enjoyed travel, but I wanted to do it for pleasure. I was done with traveling for work. Now, I'm married with tweens and travel is a showstopper for me, so no.

I would not do it. 42F with kids. Maybe when the kids move out and DH and I are sick of each other

I would not apply. I can't be away from my dogs for that long.

That sounds brutal to me. But I’m 50 with kids. My much younger sister did it when she graduated college. She did it for 3 yrs and saved serious money. It wasn’t worth her getting an apt or car since she was home so infrequently.

So to me it depends upon where you are in your life.

Curious. Is this considered a ton of travel and would it prevent you from applying or accepting a job?
