Ours grew up a drain pipe all the way to our roof line, but when we started to cut it back it was so loosely attached that it fell back to near the ground. It has taken a couple years to start reattaching, so my guess is that within a year or two we'll be repeating the process.

Ours has no scent, so maybe the scent is not consistent? Flowers sure are lovely, though they don't last that long compared to star jasmine (which we also have).

I've seen it both ways. a lot of plants have colloquial names that aren't true "whatever it's named after", but thanks for the correction.

No advice/thoughts yet but wanted to let you know I bought some this year to screen my view of the neighbors - and I bought it for the same reasons you're looking for; native, evergreen, etc. I can tell it's going to be a quick grower.

It’s fabulous for privacy screening, is evergreen, and is t so heavy that it endangers structures (like grape of wisteria). It also smells amazing when in bloom.

There are two drawbacks: Once it has grown to the desired height, it just keeps going. In the hottest months of the year, I need to cut mine back every 2-3 weeks. The bottoms of the plant can go a bit naked with age. It still looks good, just a bit different.

Does anyone have any experience with Carolina jasmine? I’m looking to cover a tall chain link fence with some kind of vine. I heard Carolina jasmine was evergreen so that’s a plus. And native. Any recommendations welcome. TIA!
