+1. Maybe put a big pile of shoes by the front door so they get the hint. And if they still don’t, just say, “Do you mind taking your shoes off please? You filthy animal.”

I have foot and ankle issues and it’s painful for me to go barefoot. Please don’t prioritize scuffs on your floors over your guests health.

Why do westerns even wear shoes in the house? Just take them off like billions of other sane people do in the cultures. Yournrelatives can stay outside and not eat turkey if they have problems with taking their shoes off. Shoes in the house is gross.

We are from Europe.

We don’t wear shoes in the house. Ever.

Maybe get a box of shoe covers for those who refuse to wear slippers/socks? Just come out and say the boots scuff the floor and you have to scrub on hands and knees to get the scuffs out. Saying it lightly without seeming judgy will make it clear it’s just about the floors.

But a scuff remover. When the ones you love still won’t listen.

Send a note out to everyone that you just had your floors redone. As PP suggested, tell everyone to bring slippers to change into.

Prevention. Let everyone know you aren’t allowing them to wear shoes in your house so they should bring slippers if they don’t want to walk around in stockinged feet.

I am dreading the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

What is the best way to remove these scuff marks that does not involve me having to physically get down on my knees in order to scrub away all of the scuff marks?
