Thank you for the update.
Best of luck and my fingers are crossed for you, as well!

AFC was 15-20. The cycle that actually had the egg retrieval had less than 15 I think. 13 eggs retrieved. 10 mature. 10 fertilized. 8 freeze worthy blasts. 2 FETs. 2 babies. 6 still in the freezer. age 36

38 yo at IVF
Diagnosis was endometriosis (surgically proven)
Estrogen priming protocol

8 follicles
8 retrieved
ICSI + AH
6 blasts (5 days)
2 transferred (one hatching, one not hatching)
The other 4 were frozen
Twins (fraternal)

We didn’t do CGH - wasn’t routinely available back then - so not sure if the frozen 4 are cytogenetically normal. The twins are cytogenetically normal (had an amino).

Best of luck; I will think good thoughts for you!

I don’t remember for sure- I did ivf two years ago when I was 31- but the doctor said he wanted at least ten or twelve follicles. I don’t know how many measurable follicles I had but I had eighteen retrieved. My issue was endometriosis though so the eggs were there, just not fertilizing. I also remember that they counted like 12/13 before my trigger shot, and then a bunch caught up and were viable at my retrieval. Same deal with my friend who also went through ivf. Don’t worry OP.

I am 38 and went through egg retrieval 3 times because I didn’t respond well to medication the first 2 times. I had normal test results for my age and the cycle that I responded well to, I had 9 follicles.

Cycle 1 - 3 follicles > 2 eggs retrieved > 2 eggs fertilized > 1 blastocyst > 1 PGT-A normal
Cycle 2 - 5 follicles > 6 eggs retrieved > 3 eggs fertilized > 2 blastocyst > 2 PGT-A normal
Cycle 3 - 9 follicles > 10 eggs retrieved > 5 eggs fertilized > 3 blastocyst > 2 PGT-A normal

It is difficult to say how many follicles = usable embryos. It depends on your egg quality, sperm quality and if you decide to do ICSI or egg hatching. One thing I did notice for me is the size of my follicles to how many embryos I ended up with. The follicles can’t be too big or too small at trigger. The sweet spot is around 16-22mm. While I had 9 measure follicles during my last retrieval, only 4 follicles were in the sweet spot.
