Severance is much more about getting releases signed. They won't deny severance retroactively and undo that.

Officially until end of this month, but they will be sending shipping labels by the end of this week to ship our laptops. So I pretty much have 3 days.

Do the bare minimum, which does not include doing a thorough job or killing yourself.

Honestly, I can't believe they are even allowing you to work. We've had people delete files off servers in situations like this. Now all layoffs are immediate.

My priority would be getting all the personal stuff together that is on any laptop drives or server locations.

Use a sick day or two

Am I legally obligated to do this? I mean they eliminating my position do I have to give her all the details how I run my program?

It sounds like you are still employed. When is the termination date? Or did your employer give you a new assignment?

I would do a very half assed job of it during the time that you're still there and never answer a call or e-mail from them after you're gone. If you signed a separation agreement granting you severance, you're getting your severance.

Because I am not obligated to give my knowledge out? And If they need my knowledge why not to keep me?

Are they giving you a severance? If so, I would do it just to ensure you get the money. You don't have to do it well but at least make an effort.

I know it sucks to be in this position, I have been there myself, but no need to burn bridges with people who may be willing to help you get your next job. I had the opposite issue when I got laid off--wrote down all of the projects I was in the middle of and gave them to the department head asking who I should transition to. He had absolutely no plan in mind. Of course, in this case, I worked for a company run by idiots. Sounds like yours at least thought this through, though I'm sorry it put you in this position.
