The bill was passed unanimously by the Council, so Bowser's veto would be meaningless. 95% of the bill is also mostly supported by MPD and the US Attorneys office, which hate dealing with the out-of-date code provisions. This is becoming law. The time to work on that or oppose it was during the last six years when it was being drafted by an independent commission.

they already lowered penalties for youth sentences. If you are under 25 Abd murder someone you can now be released after 10 years


Yes, DC already passed that act, but it has nothing to do with this one. If you want to complain about youth sentencing, then do so. But don't fall for a fox news talking point and wail and moan about a desperately-needed update to DC's century old criminal code.
