100 or 101 is not very high for a 3 year old. Pediatricians don't even consider it a fever until 100.6. If he feels okay, I would not give meds. Let the fever do its work! No doctor needed until after three+ days of fever. You are just going to spread what he has.

NP chiming in to say our 2 year old had a 6 day fever with flu... lots of vomiting. Doctor strongly recommended against Tamiflu due to side effects. Worset sickness of DC's life.

If the fever has lasted for more than 2-3 days, he should be seen to be sure he doesn't have a bacterial infection. They'll check for flu while he's there but if it's flu, it's probably too late for tamiflu anyway. When my 5-year-old had the flu (a few years ago), his fever lasted for 6 days.

My ped actually said she wouldn’t prescribe tamiflu because of the side effects. I also think there is a shortage right now so providers are being stingy. If no breathing issues, there isn’t really anything the dr can do.

We waited too long to take him to the doctor, otherwise they would have prescribed Tamiflu. I would suggest going to the doctor ASAP because it's probably flu or rsv. I don't think my kid has ever been this sick for this long.

I would give ibuprofen (my preference) or tylenol as long as he has a fever, or even if he doesn't have a fever but is fussy/irritated. Keep him at home unless he's not responding to the medicine within 60 minutes, then you could take him to the doctor if you're concerned.

Could be anything at this point.

Unless the child has concerning breathing issues or a really bad cough I would definitely not take him to the doctor. Why spread RSV to vulnerable newborns?

Flu and tsv are rampant. We all had the flu last week. And this is after flu shot. 6 year old topped fever at 102.5 and chills. 3 year old topped out under 101 but was tired and napped lots. I gave a ton of water. Tylenol for fever above 102 or if complaints of headache. I barely had a 99 temp and DH did not catch it from them at all. Neg for covid for all.
If he has the chills dont do extra blankets. Its his body cooling himself down. He can have children's tylenol and zarbees (which is just honey). Make sure he drinks a lot of water. It does help.

My 3 year old feels chill/tired/ low appetite and has a fever of 100. He does not have other symptoms. Since it is winter time, should I put extra blankets on him while sleeping? And, I wonder what could he get?

He is fully vaccinated for covid plus flu.
