OP, my oldest is in K at Rachel Carson and we are very happy with the school so far. Her teacher has been great, the instruction has been strong, and I've been especially impressed by the communication from the new principal. It's still a big school but crowding has not been an issue for her academically or socially. My daughter is clearly learning a lot, but more importantly she comes home happy and excited every day, which feels to me like the biggest measure of success for a five year-old

Been years since my kids were there but each grade used to have a lunch time. Lower grades especially had to stay at the assigned tables with their class.

I haven’t had a kid there for several years, but the school used to be so crowded that only one grade could fit in the cafeteria at a time. Lunch periods were 35 minutes long, as was recess, so while one grade had lunch, another had recess. Because there were 6 separate 35 minute lunch times, the first lunch time was 10:20 in the morning and the last was 1:15. It’s hard to have lunch less than 90 minutes after school starts.

The enrollment has shrunk to the point where it’s not really overcrowded anymore, but I don’t know if they can accommodate 2 grades in the cafeteria at a time, so they might still have similar lunch times.

Oh, I should have mentioned that they were careful to give kindergarteners the most desirable lunch time so they wouldn’t get too hungry, but would eat well.

DP Why the hostility? The post seems reasonable to me.
