Democrats screwed over the attempt to overthrow Castro at the Bay of Pigs. Democrats did nothing when Brothers to the Rescue aircraft were shot down in the 1990s. In addition, Cubans are socially conservative and for the most part, one of the higher-income immigrant groups.
Democrats ended the whole Elian Gonzalez thing as well which was very unpopular with Miami Cubans.
OP again - yes, that too. Elian's father was a puppet of the Castro regime.
Even a “puppet of the Castro regime” has the right to raise his own son, particularly when the mother is dead.
I don't disagree. The flip side is that the mother gave her life to bring her son to freedom.
It seems to me that many liberals/Dems view Cuba in a semi-positive light. Mostly I think because of misinformation. The idea that education is "free", that the health care system is any good, etc. Those of us who grew up there, went to school there, and still have family there know better.
Do Cubans really think they're white? Do they realize white people don't and just use them and they don't care or what?
