$1600 is a big scratch. Assuming you don’t need it for something essential, I would fix it. Driving a semi newer car around with that just looks terrible and you don’t take care of your car. More importantly it won’t maintain its value unless you are those people that just drive the car into the ground.

Wax the scratched area a few times a year. It won’t rust.

Don't fix it. My big mistakes were fixing my car dents, scratches. Never again.

Yeah, I'd prob do something like this just so it doesn't rust. I really don't care what my car looks like.

You can buy touch up paint for your specific car online. would be easy enough to cover up yourself

i'd def fix it. your dilemma is very common. don't give in

I wouldn't fix the car if it's just cosmetic damage but 1) we park on the street so don't expect our car to look pristine, and 2) I'm not really a car person.

Someone ran into my car and their insurance wrote me a check to cover the repairs. Around $1600. The bumper and door are scratched but not dented. We recently had some unexpected house repairs that took a big chunk out of our savings so I’m tempted to use the check towards the house repairs and leave the car damage. The car is 7 years old and runs like new. I take good care of it and expect to get many more years out of it. What would you do?
