voicemail would have indicated that they found something of yours. go to dealer and have them call him while you are there.

Why wouldn't get explain why he's calling you in the VM? That to me is the reason I wouldn't call back.

This is a stretch, and if it were true I think most people would simply return said item to the dealership instead of trying to track down the prior owner themselves - that's creepy

Just ignore the vm and any follow up calls. Whatever question or issue he is having has nothing to do with you. And if they catch you on the phone because you answer their call simply say "I don't know you, stop calling" and hang up!

You should contact the dealership and see if they gave your information to the new owner, or if they could be the middleman in case they are legit.

I would find out what he has to say. He already knows your number so you can’t put that genie back in the bottle and as someone said, he might have something of yours.

Is there any chance he found some belonging of yours in the car and is trying to return it? Something small that could have fallen and been hidden in between the seats, like a small piece of jewelry or something?

We bought a preowned Mercedes from MB last year, as the delivery of the new car we had ordered had been delayed indefinitely. This summer the new car was available so we traded in the one we had owned for less than a year. Yesterday I got a voicemail from a guy who said that he thinks he bought our old car, and he needs to talk to me about it...we bought it from the Mercedes car dealership, and sold it back to them, we had no interaction whatsoever with this guy who now has tracked me down randomly. I assume he's only calling because he's got some problem with the car, but either way I'm not interested in speaking to him. WWYD?
