I wet mine and add in what seems needed, sometimes I'll break out the diffuser which really helps set the curl past day 2. Lately I've really like misting it and adding in Cult + King's Jelly, which smells amazing and dries really nicely.

I don’t wash my hair every day (usually every 3rd or 4th) but if I wet it down then I can redo them easily. I just put more product in and it curls up again, especially if I twist it.

I have the exact same issue, but with straight hair. Always wished I had curly hair.

I have to wash daily. Or at minimum wet thoroughly and condition and gel.

I've done all things curly girl and products and pineapples and plops and silk pillowcases and refreshers and absolutely nothing works.

I wash my hair once every 3-4 days, apply products after wash, and then wet my hair a bit every morning to reactivate the curls.

I’m a 2C/3A. It starts with a good routine on day one (I used to use far less product than my hair needed) and use my clothes steamer to freshen the curls on subsequent days. I keep a lightweight oil on hand to smooth any frizz that comes with the steamer.

What do you do at night? I find that if I put it up in a “pineapple” ponytail on top and then wrap it with a silk bonnet, I can get better results than if I do nothing.

I have to use a lot of product to get good second and third day hair, but then I also have to use a clarifying shampoo with more frequency because my hair is it thick and the build up happens fast.

It’s just high maintenance which is the opposite of why I wear my hair natural. So instead I use almost no product at all, have great first day hair, braid it overnight, and have wavy and slightly poofier second day hair. It never has the perfectly turned coils this way and I wash it more often, but also never looks terrible and takes very little time to style. And it’s always soft and never gets that heavy build up feeling.

I’ve learned a lot on Instagram. I follow @curlswithalexa and @curlieswithjulia I’ve picked up tips for how to make the most of wash day, what products to try and how to make them last. The one thing that I’ve appreciated about following them is that everyday is not perfect.

I’m the same OP, but my curls are fairly loose. If I do the full Ouidad gel + rake & shake + diffuser method, my curls can last 3 days. That takes time, though, so I only do it for special occasions.

If I put minimal or no product in and air dry, I’ll have soft, loose curls for 1 day, maaaaybe 2 if there’s no humidity. Forget the summer. It’s pulled up in humid weather.

Get a natural detangler or a curl refresher and use it every morning. Or spray in water and add a leave in conditioner for curly hair.

If I do them right the first day, they can look decent on day five. It takes a lot of gel and a lot of patience on that first day though. I also need to wear my hair up at night and bonus points for me if I wear my silk bonnet.
