I like to potty train my kids closer to 2 because I think it makes my job easier but I've always been told to keep them in a crib as long as possible and to try to aim for 3-3.5 as it will give you the best chance of keeping them in their bed.
In short, this is nothing to fret over. Make a plan on potty training and follow through. The holidays are a good time to knock that out.
+1, it’s only on DCUM and in certain people’s minds that most kids PT before 2.5.
The other thing is that with a first child, you don’t know how to potty train. I tried following Oh Crap and it went poorly, and potty training just wound up being a long slog with my first. I made a ton of mistakes. But my kid still potty trained before preschool and it all worked out. No I have a better plan and attitude for my second, know the pitfalls, and feel more confident to start early. But I’m not too hard on myself at my first attempt. It’s okay to not be perfect at everything the first time around.
