Why would they be eligible for Landon trips?

No to answer the question but your kids would be eligible for Landon trips if they continue to do them I think to China and Costa Rica. Lots of these kinds of programs stopped with Covid.

Does Pyle still do the overnight camping trip or the new york one?

WWHS parent here. Yes - last summer the Japanese teacher did a trip to Japan after a few years off for COVID. Italian teacher doing Italy trip over 2023 spring break. As PP mentioned, there's a service trip to Latin America. My kids were at Pyle mostly during COVID - I don't remember any international trips but may have forgotten.

Most MCPS schools have this. Overall schools here seem uniform and interchangeable.

Whitman kids who take Spanish can sign up for trips to Ecuador or Peru or Costa Rica. I am guessing there are other language trips too but not sure.

I would be ok with it if allowed they required the teachers to chaperone different schools.

blah blah blah. The bonus of one large school system. Free trips? At my hs, the teacher paid her own way, as did we (international families hosted us, so we paid our own plane tickets).

You sound kind of gross. Teachers at DC's school had their trips fully funded by the feeds the families paid.

I think at least in MS and maybe HS the teachers would organize trips thru EF Educational Tours, say over spring break. Sometimes they were service oriented.

IIRC they could hold an info session at the school and most/all of the kids on the trip would be from the school but it wasn’t really a school-sponsored trip.

Whitman parent here. Not sure about Spain or France, but we just got an email today about upcoming service trips to Costa Rica, Peru and Ecuador. I think the applications were due today, but they may make an exception for new students. There may be other trips as well, but I’m not positive. I would call the school next week to ask.

Ok anyways I’m looking for an answer not a debate. Are there or aren’t there? Like spring break in Spain opportunities etc?

There used to be a lot of exchange trip options. 6 weeks in Japan, an exchange to England, I think one to Germany, an annual trip to Breckenridge, etc. But the county may have cracked down on those trips because there were some issues (not at Whitman that I recall).
