If you want a faster, fun read, Ali Hazelwood writes contemporary romance that always features a female heroine working in STEM. Her fist book took place at Stanford.

Along those lines, you might also like Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.

They're both on the Dark Academia list posted earlier, but the first two that jumped to my mind were The Secret History and Hangsaman by Shirley Jackson.

If you want a wild ride…

Several really trauma-laden college kids, a sport that is like hockey and lacrosse, overworked coach and other adults, lots of batsh&! crazy stuff happens, plus the mafia. Time period about 2006.

—-> The Foxhole Court, book one of the All for the Game trilogy, by Nora Sakavic.

Stoner by John Edward Williams is either a hilarious book or a heart-breaking one. Written in the 1940s, it feels contemporary.

New England White. Steven L Carter of Emperor of Ocean Park fame. Complicated and long. But well written with great character development.

Dear Committee Members and The Shakespeare Requirement by Julie Schumacher are both SO good. One is sort of a sequel to the other.
