That was my thought as well and I hope my child does not get accepted either. That sounds horrible I realize. I almost feel like sending admissions an email not to accept. LOL!

My kid is applying to Penn State - University Park and I think she will not do well at such a large school so I hope she does not get accepted. We visited a Commonwealth campus, it's like a community college. I have told her I am not paying out of state tuition to attend one of the commonwealth campuses. I think it makes sense if you're instate but not for out of state.

The weather issue again. Sigh.

Why would anyone want to do that???

Fwiw, I know a handful of kids at Penn State’s main campus. Not that hard to get in.

My solidly average mcps kid could have gone there, but said it was too “old, cold, and dreary.” That was my takeaway when visiting.

Several of my friends that started at branch campuses did so by choice to stay nearer to family, save money (living at home), or stay near their significant other still in high school (though I can't think of a single one of those relationships that worked out).

Not OP, but a grad of the honors program. Main benefits are: a small scholarship (I think it's $5K a year for 4 years now), registering for classes first, honors classes, and honors dorms (if you want to live in one).

DS is from New York and has met plenty of ppl from there(mostly from Long Island There are tons of Philly area kids... everyone is from outside Philly but never from actual Philly lol. At first during summer session, son found it was a bit hard bc a lot of summer kids were from similar counties like Bucks, DelCO but soon found the everyone branched out. Son already has a few friends from dc area if that's where you are from

No. Too expensive for what it is.

My DC applied, but will only consider attending if they are offered a spot at the main campus. I think they make everyone answer the question so they have something to offer you if you get a rejection from University Park.

Unless OP has other connections to PSU (and they might), it’s a lot to offer to an AMA for a school their DC has been at for 3 months max.
