It depends. Did the "victim" start the fight, and the hitter escalated? Or was the hitting truly unprovoked?

So, basically you don't want to deal with it. Stop letting your kids rough house and supervise them if things are that bad.

They get hit back. You don’t get to be a bully and not know what it feels like.

Ahahah I love it! This is me too… my 3 year old son occasionally hit both his older sisters… they occasionally hit back, but usually don’t.

Both kids go to time out. Kids need to learn not to push someone over the edge as well as not go over the edge.

Also my kids have a “safe word” because rough housing can sometimes just get out of hand.

The hittee gets to hit the hitter. Sometimes the hitter needs to know how it feels.

I have twin girls and one of them is a hitter. It happened maybe three times in the span of a few weeks about two years ago (they were 6). I was so frustrated that she continued to do it after consequences like going to her room, etc. so I told her we needed to try something else. I asked her what consequence she thought would be fair and would keep her from doing it again, and she said no TV or iPad for a week. (They do not have access to iPads all the time but generally get a few hours over the course of a week, one day after school during the week and then some time on the weekends depending on what we're doing, and TV is about the same). So now that's the consequence. It works, but not perfectly. When she sees red she still has a hard time controlling herself but it has gotten better as she has gotten older.

No one else has this issue? Or no one uses consequences?

Go to your room and don’t come out until you can be around people without hitting them.

What do you guys use at home? Kids are 5-10.
