Maybe a few classic children's books.

Someone got my kid a piggy bank and I didn’t have the heart to tell them that i haven’t handled cash/have not had coins in my house for years.

Gift cards to baby stores or Door Dash. There’s always more baby stuff that you need to buy and gift cards are helpful for that.

Please no clothes, I was gifted so much cute but impractical clothes, or clothes that I thought was not that cute and didn’t put on DC as a result.y

Yeah, gift cards are good.

Clothes in larger sizes can be good if you can guess their style and if they are not season specific. (Don't get 0-3 months; everyone buys that size.)

I've found that I can always use more bibs and burp cloths, since those are constantly in the wash. There are some nice ones out there. I like the ones from KeaBabies and think they are a good value. Copper Pearl has the cutest prints, though.

Freddy the firefly and a Sophie giraffe? Those are always hit toys.

Gift cards. I also liked 9-12 month clothing or toys.

No blankets. We literally received a dozen and gave most away. I’d buy some baby clothes in a larger size from a nice brand. The gift I liked most was from a coworker who gave me a set of L’Occitane body wash and lotion for the baby. It smelled heavenly and wasn’t something I would have splurged on myself, so it felt luxurious.

+1

This is what we've been giving colleagues who have just had babies. Or just cash collections.

I get them something nice (yet on sale) from Janie & Jack or Tea Collection, in a bigger size like 12-18 months or 2T.

I come back to here when this question comes up since you are all in the thick of things...

Colleague just had a baby. I don't know her well at all; only from zoom, she's in a fairly senior admin role that supports my team though I rarely work with her directly - she mostly takes orders from the head of our team. She only joined our team 1.5 years ago. I know pretty much nothing about her other than this is her second! She had a boy fwiw. I found a registry online - but pretty much everything is bought and it was pretty long!

I'd like to spend $50-ish and send her something by mail.

What's a decent baby gift for colleague these days? When you know they already got the must-get stuff from a registry, so you're just sending something to acknowledge they had a baby?

Any cute things from Etsy? clothes? I laughed to my DH that we are so far removed from baby days that the stuff that was popular when DS was born - just 10 years ago -- is probably all on the "toxic to babies" list by now.
