Call a branch of the Baltimore Enoch Pratt Library. I used to donate books there — and would see them out on the shelves.

Call the Book Thing and/ or the Maryland Book Bank.

Is there anywhere else I can donate them? My husband is to the point where he wants to just put them in a dumpster. They are all kinds, sci fi, memoirs, crime fiction, history, etc. (but no children's books). It's way too much to to put in a "little library".

Lupus Foundation will pick them up
as will Good Will

the Moco libraries have SUSPENDED donations, they will literally throw them in the trash, so please don't waste them by taking to the library

I agree you can dispense some at little free libraries but not many at a time, there's a reason they're called "little"

Even in the Book forum you people don't bother to actually READ the OP.

It's really fun to do what is called a "Little Free Library hunting" run and drop 1-2 books at every LFL in an area. Some people also call it "book bombing."

Noooooo

Why Nooooo?

I'm on the board of a Friends' group and we accept donations. If they're not salable we know how to handle them.

If you are near Bethesda, BCC high school has an annual used book sale and I believe you can drop books off this weekend. Just pull up and pop open your trunk and kids will come get them for you. It's super easy

Little free libraries in the area, or senior citizens homes.

This is my suggestion. You just drop them off, really easy.

Can you give them away on a buy-nothing group?

I have many boxes from a relative that passed. I've tried going to Goodwill 4 times now, and they say they are full up and to come back later, and as early in the morning as possible because the book bin fills up fast. I'm over it.
