Omg, this is the end for me. I cut off my mother so this would not happen (but also for a lot of ther good reasons, trust me). I saw my mom show a crucifixion video to my 5yo nephew after my sister explicitly forbade it, before leaving.. "But he was begging to watch it!" Grandma said. Not true. I was never gonna let her alone with my kids. Ever.

So. I loved reading the Bible as a child (I started at 7). I was a bookworm, and the Bible was just another book.

If it's just reading, I think it's great he's getting a bit of culture. He should read other religious texts from other religions as well, to compare all the wonderful and nonsensical things they say

If Grandma is trying to convince him that all that stuff is real and he should believe, then that's a breach of trust and I wouldn't leave them alone very frequently. I would also talk about religions with my kid. There are books for children that compare religions - you can get him one of those and start a Humanist discussion.

Meh. There may be a slight gray area here, but the fact that grandma has been keeping this hidden means that she 100% knows that the parents would not be OK with it.

Oh, HELL NO. You’re going to get a bunch of replies from people telling you she meeeeeans well and it’s harmless (as if they’d say the same if she was a convert to Islam and was indoctrinating your kid in that). Absolutely not. Shut it down hard or no more visits. How disrespectful.

My mother has been very upset that we’ve held off in baptizing our kids. Neither DH nor I are religious and have decided to hold off on introducing it. Well, Dc informed us a few weeks ago that on the weekend afternoon s when she visits snd we’ve been letting her spend one on one time with DC hat she’s been whipping out a Bible and holy water and forcing DC to read aloud from it. From what my DC, who is in 5th grade, says, it sounds like my mom is really pushing it hard. I think she’s probably been doing this for months now. So, what’s next? She will
