It's mainly a way for rich folks to get a small break on their private school tuition. I mean they don't like paying taxes and feel everyman for themselves is better. Most people aren't dumb enough to buy into this but a few.

Yes, but not to the same extent as other areas.

We are in Fairfax, though, and I like that there aren't a million magnet schools. I think it keeps the focus on trying to keep every FCPS school competent to teach every subject. And magnet schools might create an even deeper have/have not situation.

I think that even had our less desirable schools, the programs offered, electives, and after school activities are similar across the board.

Fairfax has IB and a math magnet. For lower school we have immersion.
