I understand where you're coming from, OP. At the beginning of trying to establish a habit I know I can't skip days. I think jogging or jumping jacks while kids go up to the doors would be my plan.

It's certainly possible to lose weight without doing cardio every single day of your life.

You don't need DCUM to tell you it's OK. Step away and have fun with your kids!

Trying to lose weight.

Cardio won't help with that OP. Cardio for weight loss is a myth - you do it for heart health and for mental health, but not weight loss. True weightloss starts and ends in the kitchen, and the weight room. I know this from personal experience. years and years of it.

NP but I think what OP is trying to achieve is a calorie deficit. You're right in that weight loss starts in the kitchen but burning up calories outside the kitchen does help. If your calories in is low and your calories out is high, you will lose weight.

This. OP can’t starve herself today to make up for that missed cardio. I agree that one day doesn’t make a difference, and she will have moved her body those 5 miles, thus burning calories, whether she walks slowly or briskly.

Walking is good for you. I do it on my rest days.

Give yourself a break - there are days of the year when it does not work and today might be one of them.

You will be out walking - possibly with an umbrella. Go and be in the moment with your kids and enjoy it.

Skipping one day because it's a holiday is not a big deal. Do it tomorrow.

Running around the neighborhood with my kids tonight will absolutely be my exercise and that is OK. I will not be drinking alcohol or eating candy like everyone else so that helps, too! Have fun with your kids OP and just do your best today.

No, that’s light exercise (no matter the distance) unless your heart rate is in the cardio zone.

Busy Monday plus it’s Halloween. I can make time for a half-hour of more intense cardio if I have to, but I’m wondering if the broken up walking tonight while trick or treating can count as cardio? Last year my balls to the wall kids walked nearly 5 miles! But it’s not strenuous at all.

I only ask because I’m really trying to do daily cardio, but what a hectic day!
