I’m a mom and my adult son is 42 and he still watches me pee and poop it will never end

I have no privacy at all. Eldest is 4.

I've never allowed my child in the bathroom with me except in public restrooms where I thought she might run off, or when she was potty training so she could learn by example. Privacy is important to me!

get her used to amusing herself now. Even just for 5 mins to start.

My kid is 10. We are an all female family if that matters. We generally pee with doors open and ignore each other. For potty training I thought it was useful for her to watch so pretty sure I did everything in front of her until she was 2.5ish. Anything over than peeing we close doors.

M’y 7yo still wants to come in, but I tell him to stand right outside the door now. Our bathroom is too small anyway. But he knows I don’t have a penis and that I don’t pee from one.

Good excuse to teach 3 year old the concept of privacy my almost-4-year-old gets it now.

I have a 1yo and 3yo and I’m just starting to work on having the 3yo respect the closed door, so this sounds about like our timeline.

Wait - 12??? I think no for that but 1 or 2 year olds can't help it. As soon as you can reliably let them stay outside the door, I'd close it.

I have no problem with my two year old coming in with me but I also have no problem shutting the door. Would be the same at 13 months. I think you need to get comfortable with the baby getting upset. We’re talking like 60 seconds of being upset in a safe situation (assuming child proofing or in a crib or whatever). Being upset is normal and allowed. It’s perfectly reasonable, in this case. You have to stop avoiding everything that makes the child upset, as long as they’re not in danger or being wronged in some meaningful way.

Never? I will pee in front of my mom and she will pee in front of me. I guess if I have to poop I'll wait till my kids stop wanting to be with me of their own accord.

Honestly it's better for potty training purposes if your kids see you poop.

How did you do it?
My daughter is 13 months and gets upset if I'm out of sight even for me to go potty.
I bring in with me, but I realize as she is becoming more mobile this isn't practical.
I have a pack n play but she hated it.
So what do you do with your crying toddlers when you need to use the bathroom?
