No, what the Democrats should have done is made Fetterman withdraw when he had his stroke and hold a second primary. There was plenty of time. But they lied and tried to hide the extent of Fetterman's problems and now it's backfired spectacularly.

The partisans did. The staunch Democrats who just proved they'd vote for a dead man as long as it was a Democrat.

But who knows about the independents and their voting habits. Given the trends in the polls shifting towards Oz even before the debate there clearly were many undecided and they probably will vote in person or by mail in the next week or so.

Fetterman probably did save some votes by holding off the debate as long as he could but now it's undeniable why he did and all the claims he was fine and cries of ableism are sounding pretty bad now.
