I’m not sure. It seems she is doing fine academically- all As, including Algebra I. Socially it seems fine as well - she gets time with her friends in the school bus since they all live around us. She has also made new friends.
THAT said, every week, at least once, she tells me she is not feeling well and asks to stay home. Usually on Thursdays- she says she hates Thursdays because it all classes she hates. From them on, she goes on crying like if someone has died while she gets ready.
Theater Tech is NOT what she expected and she detests it. I told her to talk to the counselor and try to change to another elective, but she wants to keep doing it because a few of her best friends (including from her E.S) are attending it.

My 7th grader is doing fine. Definitely more homework! Quizzes and tests every other day. Based on SIS looks like she'll be getting the following grades for 1st qt.
English Honors AA - A
History Honors AA - A
Science AA - A
Algebra 1 HN - B+
English Honors AA - A

Science AA - A

Yes some kids can be principal placed into AAP in MS.

Academically, she is doing fantastic, but socially it has been a really tough transition. She basically went from being with the same kids since third grade to a huge school with a ton of new (not very nice) kids. It has been rough.

My 7th grader is doing fine. Has WAY more homework, and quizzes/tests every other day. She went from a not well regarded center to a well regarded MS.

OP here, I know. Are honors classes any better than gen ed? I’ve heard mixed things. Some say it’s the same material as AAP.

Sorry, misread the original comment. Principal Placed kids will most likely take Honors classes. Parents can always apply for LIV in 6th grade so their kids can take AAP classes in MS.

So far MS isn't hard and homework is minimal. But DC does not have all As or 100s.
DC is a 2e kid (140+ IQ and ADHD) and we haven't pushed grades at all - although I have pushed turning in assignments even when they're late, and in the next quarter I'm going to push turning in assignments on time/keeping better track of assignments.

I’m concerned our aap center is too easy. My kid has less than 30 minutes of homework a night. He is busy every day with other stuff but it’s almost like school has taken a backseat.
