Local politicians want to keep it quiet because it reflects poorly on their leadership.
Local businesses want to keep it quiet because they want to keep shoppers coming. Business has been tough for brick and mortar stores with everyone switching to online shopping during the pandemic. In person shopping is finally coming back and crime at the malls/stores is not good for business.
I don’t know what you’re talking about. Pike and Rose has been absolutely booming.
