Yeah, there are tons of little kids there. They have an entire little kids section. It's not like the parents are going to dump a one year old in a raft and send it down a lazy river alone. Sigh.

BG is a lot of walking and the park is really spread out. Limited rides and shows since it's off peak and in the midst if their Fright Fest. Christmas Town is nice, again, limited rides so check the schedule. I think they're open only on weekends.
CW is not enough to hold interest of your kids The garden maze rakes like 30 seconds and the animals are either not out, too far away down the lawn, or will only be interesting for like 5 minutes.
I'd do Jamestown. Way more interactive and hands-on stuff I door and outdoors + you can board the ships.
What time of the year Op? The Grand Illumination is cool, but only if you're an adult and can stand around waiting in crowds. Plus, it makes for a late Sunday night drive home

I think it’s not at all intended for little kids. I’d pack a picnic and look for a park. Save the money.

CW hotels are fine and rooms are all price points. I'd stay on campus. There is a free shuttle bus that will take you around. The kids will like the shuttle bus also.

Blacksmith ship will be a hit with the 4 year old.
Bakery is also pretty interesting. The 4 year old will like that.
Walk through the Native American district. The 4 year old will be fascinated by the loin cloths.

The kids will enjoy seeing the animals at CW.....horses, sheep etc

Don’t do Busch Gardens right now. They are very understaffed and have diverted staff from the kids rides to the bigger coasters. It’s expensive day with very few things to do for the young set to ride.
If you’re already in CW, wander around the restored area. Let the kids run around in the grass and then leave.

My five year old really liked Jamestown and my 3 year old was ok with it. They didn't really like Wiliamsburg much. We didnt go to the theme parks. Isnt Great Wolf Lodge cloe by maybe?

Sounds awful. Toddlers and preschoolers won't enjoy Colonial Williamsburg. lol. Take them to Busch Gardens instead, like a PP suggested.

I'm not sure a 1 yo will enjoy much of colonial williamsburg... its a lot of listening, walking/stroller, observing. (Would you take your 1 yo to Mount Vernon?).
Busch Gardens does have plenty of rides for the 4 yo, fewer for the 1yo but still has the Sesame Street area, etc. Less than Dutch Wonderland but still a fun time.

Kids up to 41.9" (must be able to walk) can enjoy these rides when accompanied by someone who meets all ride requirements and is over 14 years old.

We have family in the area we need to visit anyway, so I'm looking for advice on visiting CW with a 4-year-old & 1-year-old.
1. Where to stay? Most family-friendly hotels in the area?
2. Are they too young for Busch Gardens? We've been to Dutch Wonderland and they enjoyed that.
3. Best Colonial Williamsburg events we could attend or places we could visit with kids this young?
