I’m confused I seriously thought one of the benefits of a nanny is that they handle sick days. If not, what’s the point? Especially since the kids get less socialization in a nanny setting vs daycare.

No, that is not the point of having a nanny. The point of having nanny is that your child gets one on one high quality care.

Oh and if im sick or dh is sick but kids are ok. Nanny comes and we isolate in a room and not come out. Obvs not if its covid, then nanny didnt come.

If kid has a cold, nanny comes to work. If kid has a fever or vomiting, nanny has off with pay. I have had the nanny come, take care of sick kid and then get sick herself. She then gets time off eith pay to recover and we don't take it from sick leave. Depends on the nanny. We talked it over ahead of hiring. Most of mine have been super healthy and were fine taking care of a mildly sick kiddo who wasn't contagious with anything serious (so the dont come for flu or covid etc).
You have to have a good personal relationship with nanny and be able to talk it over ahead of time but also every time it comes up. I wouldn't hire a nanny who cant come take care of a sniffly child because that is a big plus of a nanny. My preschool now sends a kid home with green snot but the nanny was perfectly capable of having a quiet day with the toddler, wipe her nose, wash her own hands, give the kid a longer nap etc. We had nannies for all kids until they were 3 and then they went to full day pre-k.

If your child is sick / contagious or someone in your house is, do you require your nanny to come to work? If not, does she still get paid? Are those days taken out of her vacation/sick leave or are they like corporate administrative leave? How does this work???
